Interbeing
Tương Tức — Interbeing
Nothing exists by itself alone
The name Interbeing Therapy is inspired by the teachings of Vietnamese Buddhist monk, teacher, and peace activist Thích Nhất Hạnh. He used the word to describe the profound interconnectedness of all things. We do not exist in isolation; we are shaped by our relationships, our communities, our histories, our environments, and the living world around us. Even within our own bodies, we are intricate, interconnected ecosystems—far more than our thoughts, stories, or feelings alone. Healing, too, is something we do in relationship—with all the parts of ourselves, with one another, and with the world we are part of. As bell hooks so beautifully wrote, “Rarely, if ever, are any of us healed in isolation. Healing is an act of communion.”
When something shifts in one person, it changes the space around them. A little more room to breathe, a little more capacity to connect, a little less passing our pain down the line. Our hope is that the work we do here doesn’t stop at the therapy room—it ripples outward, into our relationships, our communities, and the wider web of life we’re all part of.
In the spirit of Thích Nhất Hạnh’s teachings on interbeing, a portion of therapy spaces are reserved for donation-based care. We believe healing should not be a resource available only to those who can comfortably afford it, and that our wellbeing is deeply connected to the wellbeing of one another.
