Tanory Ateek, LCSW-C is founder and primary therapist at Interbeing Therapy. She is currently licensed to see clients in the state of Maryland.

Through Interbeing Therapy, Tanory integrates trauma-informed psychotherapy, nervous-system education, somatic practices, creativity, nature, and relational healing.

Tanory came to therapy as a third career, bringing with her years of experience in international relief and cross-cultural work, as well as a long history of teaching yoga and meditation. Her clinical roots are in trauma-focused play therapy, and she has since trained across a wide range of therapeutic approaches, with a particular focus on Somatic Experiencing. She has experience providing behavioral health services in medical settings, community settings, and through private practice.

Her work weaves these threads together: a deep understanding of the social, cultural and ecological worlds that shape us, an embodied understanding of the brain/body/emotion connection, and a belief that meaningful therapy doesn’t always have to feel so serious. For Tanory, therapy can be both deep and playful. Clinical and creative. Grounded in science without losing its soul.

Therapy with Tanory is warm, playful, non-judgmental, creative, and deeply human—where profound transformation can happen without turning you into a problem to be solved or a diagnosis to be treated.
